We're HOME!

What a whirlwind of a weekend.  Up, up in the air and down again to Winter!  We drove through rain, sleet and hail.  There was snow visible on the mountain peaks Friday morning.  OH MY!

The wedding, luncheon and open house are now fond and fun memories.  We've had lots of laughs and tears over the weekend. 

We're happy to be back home -- even though the temps aren't much warmer!  LOL

Pictures are posted in our Yahoo photo album and most of you reading this should have gotten your personal invite.  We're certain more photos will be coming as film is developed and those taking digital pictures go through theirs. 

As for the floors, well the saga continues!  We're 2/3 closer in the living room to being finished but still concrete slab in the formal dining room and entry way.  Oh, and we STILL don't have the right stair nose!

new projects...

I spent a lovely afternoon with a friend yesterday at the quilt store.  Oh what fun and more fun!  I found the fabric I  needed to finish a project, but of course, didn't stop there --- I brought home enough fabric for a Holiday throw to go on the sofa in the living room once everything settles down. 

I also picked up another project book (fabric postcards) and a book for a fun read.  That project pile is  g r o w i n g

I'm hoping to make a return trip to Quiltworks soon.  I saw a few other bolts that could come home with me....

Friday calm?

Two rooms (the kitchen and family room) are now completely floored as is the hallway.  It's gorgeous!   We're still waiting on a flooring piece that was not ordered when we placed the original order for the wood.  It won't be here until next week... so, we're on hold for the next couple of days.  The living room floor is now "leveled".  It took 5 bags of concrete to accomplish that.  Hopefully, it'll be dry enough to walk on tomorrow. 

We'll all be glad when the dust has finally settled and all the furniture is back in it's place.

On a side note, going to finally get started on those seat covers again.  I hope to have them all done by early next week.

Breaking & Entering!

What a Labor Day!!!!!  Okay, yesterday was no picnic!  We ended up pulling up the vinyl in the kitchen and then scraping off most of the glue and remaining backing from the first of the two layers.  We had a hard time moving the rest of the afternoon and our hands are still aching and blistered (at least the ones that haven't popped yet).  After we finished with the kitchen and nook area, Pat and I headed for some pampering (pedicures and manicures)  The flooring contractor needed to "mud" the floors in a couple of areas and we had to be out of the house so as not to track on the mudded areas....however, the dogs had other ideas! 

In order to help speed the drying process, the flooring contractor left a door vent open...hmmm, Busted saw this as an opportunity for entry!  He took advantage as soon as the flooring contractor pulled out of the driveway (remember, we were all doing other things away from the house).  Busted knocked the screen into the house and took the scenic tour leaving his paw prints for posterity in the setting "mud"....now mind you, the scenic tour also included the master bedroom and bed!  We now have paw prints on our bedding too!  By the time we found the evidence, it was much too late to do anything about it.  Oh, and Song was in on this little escapade as well, but we're pretty sure she was just following Busted's lead.  We found a few of her prints along side of Busted's! 

Today, the dogs are again outside and in the backyard, but I'm hanging out at home to keep tabs on them.  :)

September has arrived!

The long Labor Day weekend is shortly ahead....and there are quite a few things on our calendar for the weekend....mostly having to do with the remodeling, but I'm hoping we'll be able to throw in a swim and a barbecue tomorrow and or on Monday --- depending on the rains.

Yesterday while the new counters were being installed I got some major sewing done...2 projects are at the finishing stages.  Take a peek:

   I just need to get the buttonhole stitching around the heart and the saying stitched in and some button/charms embellishments sewn on.  About 2 more hours of work.  Good to put in my to-go bag to work on during breaks and lunch.

   The Denver Temple picture is just lacking the trees and the Moroni on the steeple.  I'm taking it to work today to get that done and I think I've figured out the tree thing for this picture....I found some fabric in my stash and we'll an applique.  I think we'll put a tag on the frame with the name and date on it to finish it.  Hopefully, it will be ready to go to the framer's on Tuesday and read for pick-up on Thursday.
