Tuesday update

News on the Kelty front:  She was moved from PICU yesterday and onto the NTU (Neuroscience Trauma Unit).  The kids were allowed to hold her for a while.  She talked a bit and definitely let the nurses and me know, no poking or touching allowed!  ;o) She's eating some people food now.  She downed nearly a full cup of apple juice last night.  She slept well into the wee hours before she needed some additional pain meds.  Aerial spent the night at the hospital.  Jay had to go into work this morning for some end of the month stuff and get ready for tomorrow's inventory check.  Gage spent the night here and Jay dropped him off at Grandma Robin's on his way to work.  Jay will go to the hospital after work today. 

I'm putting a few more things away and doing a bit of laundry this morning at the house while I wait on the Fed-Ex truck to stop by the house....and there's no dog to scare the bejeebers out of the poor guy!

A couple more family members dropped by last night -- we so appreciate their thoughtfulness.  I'm not sure whether or not to publish their names, so for the time being, I won't.   Tom and Amber brought Nala and Gage was thrilled to help take her for a walk. 

Gotta get moving again....time to move a load of laundry and make a couple of phone calls.

I'm so thankful for friends, family, blessings, LIFE!

For those of you who have been watching and reading over on facebook or get the daily emails, we truly have been blessed and have GREAT reasons to be thankful.  Prayers in Kelty's behalf have been more than just heard and answered, our hearts have truly felt the peace that comes from having a true belief that God does hear and answer prayers.  We know that Kelty's name has been mentioned numerous times every day since we first got word about her condition. 

Jay just got off the phone with the hospital and the update was definitely good.  Kelty's night was a good one and she's waking up this morning a bit on the grumpy side.  We'll be leaving in a little bit for the hospital and another day.  We should get the radiologist and pathology reports later today.  We've got our fingers crossed that the tumor is gone and non-cancerous.

We've left a few messages around the area with friends and will be catching up with a few others later today, during some down time at the hospital. 

Gage and Jay 'built' a kite last night. They had a good time...he wanted to take it to bed with him...we compromised and he got to play with the string holder for a few minutes before it was lights out and bed time last night.  I don't think he'll be out flying the kite today -- it's snowing still.

I've got  few short videos I hope to get posted later today.  One of them is a bit longer and I'm not sure this internet connection will not time out on me.  I so miss broadband and a speedy connection.  I think the strongest connection we've had in the last 24 hours has been 18mbps.  We can't connect at the hospital other than for email.

Well, time to get moving and ready for the trek to the hospital and hopefully, Kelty will be able to move from the PICU to the floor today and the reports will be al we hope for and more.

Ummmm....

Looks like winter is making a comeback.  Could be an interesting weekend here in the Central Plains.  The Colorado blizzards have arrived in the panhandle and we're now looking at some accumulation of snow here in the city.  And that being said, means DOUGHNUTS!  I'm thinking cake doughnuts and baked -- not fried, maybe even subbing some applesauce for the fat.  Oh the doctor would be happy to hear that!    ;)  Will have to think about that a bit more after today's presentation at the center this afternoon.

On a crafting side note:

I think that the impending storm kept everyone home last evening preparing for the incoming storms - including some SNOW!  Not a common thing here in the Central Plains.  I imagine we'll see lots of cancellations beginning this afternoon as the first wave rolls through.

I took advantage of having things set up - and got 4 cards completed and components for another 2 dozen nearly done.  Here's one card I made using Bleach as paint.  The stamp, paper and ink and embossing powder are from SU.  Ribbon from American craft and I inked to change the color just a bit.     The next images are from HouseMouse.  Paper and inks from SU.  I used water color pencils and OMS  to "paint" them.  I also used a circle stamp from Papertreyink to create the background in this one.  I love the look even though the Green Galore is much brighter than the colors I usually choose to use.    and in this image, I also used SU's dots embossing folder and inked the edges of the white card with yo-yo yellow and crystal effects for the rain drops and eyes.

Is it one of the gloomy gray days where you live? I hope not!   I'm seeing some brilliant blue sky amidst the clouds - though that's not what makes the "sunshine" for me!

just a quick note

The storms rolled through last evening, packing a punch!  We got off lucky again!  We did get some rain and hail and lots of wind -- but no twirlies!  YAY! 

It's cooler this morning, with a chance of more rain -- though I'll be surprised if we get much.

Everyone is heading off to work and I've got a pretty full morning ahead with hopes of spending a couple of "creative" hours later this afternoon and evening!

Breezy

It's another blustery morning.  Gotta LOVE Spring weather!  Hopefully, we'll get some much needed rain and the severe weather risk won't develop as predicted.

Migraine is tolerable now.  YAY!

I enjoyed a bit of floating around facebook last night and checking in on a few friends and found a few more along the way.  Discovered we have a new grandpup too!  He's such a cutie -- too bad the previous owners had been so cruel.  Rebel is adjusting to his new family and the girls are enjoying their new "brother."

I inked up a trio of my House Mouse stamps last night. Did a bit of coloring and blending and have a few stamped images ready to work with during Wednesday evening's class. 

I've got a bit of prepping for this week's presentations to finish up this morning including the handouts.  On to Phase II at the RTC!

Beautiful day!

There's a bit of sunshine outside the window this morning and bits of blue sky peek out amongst the puffy clouds. A blustery Spring wind is blowing in the front that will bring some storms our way tomorrow. 

T got the frame together for the raised garden bed yesterday morning - now to get it set and filled this coming week.  We're really hoping that we'll get some yummy fresh veggies over the summer and into the fall with some careful planning and plantings.

We had a really good day of cardmaking -- lots of fun with the Slice -- though we still can't figure out why it cut one of the shapes differently.  That was interesting and I ended up have to trim several before they could be stacked and used.  But here's the result using SU's In Color papers and inks:

The cutest idea from Papertreyink and Lauren Meader's blog was in my email this past week.  It's the cutest "Bun in the Oven" idea with a fun sock cupcake stashed inside.  Here's a first attempt of recreating the idea.       They were fun and we had a blast playing with different sizes of socks as well as testing a few other ways to make the "frosting.  Lauren's blog has some sweet ideas and if you like the box presentation, the $5 purchase is well worth it as she has step  by step directions and lots of additional ideas in the accompanying booklet in the downloadable file at Papertreyink.com

Today's thought came from a really good friend, Deb.  She must have known I was struggling to find something for the day.

It just ain't so....

yep, the day is nearly over and I almost missed posting!  Seems that this morning hurried on through without much in the way of a break...but it was a wonderfully busy one!

There was a lot of cutting, inking, taping and talking going on throughout the day!  Lots of cards got finished, a few more now have some sentiments on the inside and are ready for giving. 

We tried out the Slice again this morning.... lots of fun!  I only used one design today -- from the Fall set.  A bird x 6.  They turned out pretty good with a bit of tweaking....for some reason the cuts weren't all the same and couldn't be stacked on top of each other.  OH well, we did learn a lesson; use a NEW blade when cutting some SU cardstock! 

The scalloped oval nesties got a workout earlier.  They were used to back some cute Easter stickers a couple of the gals had gotten through the Current catalog.  Cute and fun and simple cards.  No pics, though as they had to leave a bit early. 

While we were busy inside, Ted was outside putting the framework together for the raised garden bed.  Materials:  1 x 12's; brackets, screws and a new drill bit.  It's done and ready for filling!  We're estimating that it will take over a $100 worth of dirt to fill it!  What was I thinking?  LOL  Fresh veggies and maybe some salsa over the winter!    

The storms must be  moving in....I'm beginning to get that heavy headache feeling again.  Maybe it won't last too long... we can always hope!

Celebrating Spring

It's Friday already and the first day of Spring officially arrives in just a little bit. 

Peg left yesterday afternoon after a full morning of observing a presentation I did and some sight-seeing at the Memorial.  It was a moving experience -- although I wish we could have spent a bit more time outside - none of us were really dressed for that blustery, cold wind yesterday!  We spent nearly 2 hours at the museum before taking the short ride to Bricktown and Chelino's Restaurant for lunch.    We really didn't get our best faces in this one, but we were both freezing and anxious to get into the building and warm up!  BRRRRR!  Thnx Andrea for taking pictures yesterday!  

I promised to post a picture of the cards that Peg made on Wednesday night -- so here it is.
