I looked out the window....

there are days when those seem hard to come by -- but yesterday wasn't one of them and neither will today!  What is there to smile about? 

Blue skies, sunshine, warming air, birds singing, green blades of grass and even a few of those pesky weeds are greening up too - an indication that Spring is here.  More leaves are uncurling on the pear trees and the sole surviving rose bush in the front yard.  Reacquainting one's self to an old embroidery technique - Finding the perfect pattern for a project in your stash and not having to spend a dime!  I knew I had it!  So happy to have found it! 

More fabric flowers are now pins, oh, those are so much fun!  Quick and easy and I love them!  Small, medium and large!  Buttons and only a little bit of stitching to hold them all together.  A big of glue to attach the pin back and you're done!  I know, I wrote about these in my last post -- but they are so much fun! 

Now to finish some ruching -- The new Cards Magazine (Northridge Media) has some really sweet ideas -- If you've got a copy, Dawn Woleslagle's card on page 65 is one of the first I'm making!  So sweet!  I have the first bud done -- 2 more to go plus a larger blossom.  Going to need to look through my ribbon stash and see if I have a wider ribbon in the same or nearly same peachy color.  The leaves are already cut, thank you cricut and the Storybook cart.

just a quick note

It's already been a busy couple of days...hmmm, how to pack it all in?  Not sure. 

Now that Spring is coming -- regardless of the anticipated arctic cold that's coming in or the chance of snow, I'm hoping this spurt of energy will hang on!

It's been a fun and creative weekend and the last couple of days have been fun too.  I've been wanting to try "building" some flowers using the scallop dies and some fabric...I got brave Saturday afternoon, grabbed a fat quarter and started cutting -- sadly, not with as much success as I'd hope a couple of swipes through the Cuttlebug might bring -- but, adding a doubled piece of plain copy paper was just the right amount of shim and the fabric cuts perfectly now with just one roll through! 

The stamp is from an SU set.  Button and fabric from stash.  There are 4 layers of doubled fabric using the Lg Classic Scallop Circle dies from Spellbinders.  I added a pin back for double duty to the card!

I saw him on another website but can't remember where at this point in time.  He's rather cute, don't ya think?  A great way to use up some odd scraps here and there too. 

This cute little chick is a CASE as well - I'm not sure where it originated from either, but a friend brought  her version to share last weekend.  I really like the hearts for the cheeks - They certainly add a little personality.

ain't life grand....

Regardless of whether the skies are blue or gray, good things continue to surround us!  There have been a couple of surprises in the mail -- GOOD surprises that boost the spirit.  Thanks sweet friends for the cards and notes!  And we love the new pics of Adi too!  Wahoo! 

Today, I decided to "play".  Oh, it felt good.  Gotta love when the mood strikes and you run with it.  Yummy!

I ran across Gretchen Barren's blog last week and was instantly "hooked!"  She had these darling critters on her website and I couldn't help myself -- so I bought the tutorial and, w - e - l - l, the rest is history.  While I have most of the punches her tute calls for, I found a way to recreate the others close enough in size and shape using the Slice Basic Design card 2 and creating some shapes in SCAL2 to cut on the Cricut.  Thanks, Dayna for helping me see a few things with different eyes too! 

There are two more critters in the collection. I'm thinking some cuttlebug embossing might just add a little more to them.... What fun!  Makes those gray skies not so gray anymore!

It's been a very full week!  Productive, busy, happy and more importantly one filled with joy.  Gotta love that. We're very excited to hear the news that Tom has finally popped the question to Amber and she has accepted his proposal and they're planning a Fall wedding!  YAY! 

Yesterday was a big day for Ted, the culmination of several months of work, calls, emails and follow-ups - and he so appreciates all the help he got yesterday at the merit badge fair!  Everyone helped out and did their jobs well.  He is very grateful to T.Payne for all his direction and support and guidance and leadership.  There were a lot of boys who showed up -- nearly 200!  Amazing and it sounds like a lot of badges were earned or nearly finished by the end of the day.  The classes were full and a few had waiting lists, I understand.

2 dozen + cards finished over the course of the week,  They're ready to mail and be delivered to their new home.  It's been exciting to create them.   We had a fun day yesterday in our Nurturing Creativity group. Everyone was there with a purpose.  Some worked on finishing up projects they'd started on Wednesday evening and a couple of others worked on new items using some of the sample cards in my stash.  Sherri shared a couple of punch ideas at a recent workshop of hers -- so I added a couple of those to my book.  Thanks Sherri...  With Easter just around the corner I have been looking for some fun ideas for the grandkids...and yep, it's coming together.  The cut file is made, been tested and worked great.  I think there's even some options for a little resizing and maybe even an applique could be a result in the near future for the girls....as for the boys, well I have a couple of ideas forming now. 

   Isn't he cute?  I didn't do a lot of inking, but if I was to do another, I'd ink to add a bit more dimension and texture.  The gals thought he was real cute.  All materials and supplies from SU!
