but just couldn't make it over here to get it done. Have lots of cards to share too -- but keep forgetting that a few of them are for a couple of upcoming birthdays and I'd hate to spoil the S U R P R I S E!
The rains - make that monsoons - have arrived here in the heartland. OH MY! We had our own mini flood -- A few years ago, we had a similar experience -- Oh Pat, if you ever visit the blog, remember our day of baling out the pool? Ted and I had to do it this past Tuesday! Only even with a pump running we didn't quite have the same good results -- we actually did run over the top and over into the surrounding area. It was UGLY there for about 2 hours. The water was about 4 inches deep on the patio -- up to the top of the back step. No, this drenched soul didn't take pics -- wishing I had, but it was more important to try to keep the waters from reaching our neighbor's house, which we were able to do. Anyway the week brought lots of memories back -- and we're thinking about you, Pat. Hope you're doing ok!
We've had some fun projects on the table the last couple of weeks -- lots of fun ones, matter of fact and I see that I'm missing a few pictures already! Click on any of the pics for a larger image in a pop-up window.
I picked up a new SLICE card, Bon Apetit, a few weeks ago and have been toying with a couple of ideas - and this is one of them:
Someone I know loves cherry pie -- so this one is just "dripping" with goodness on a gatefold card. CS, stamp, ink, is SU! Patterned paper is PC; Glossy Accents, Ranger; Silver Paintymarker, Zig; Punch, MS. The cut is at 4" The Cut is made in normal for the crust and in shadow for the filling and the pie tin. Trimmed as needed. I used redline tape to adhere to the card front and used a bone folder to fold the creases neatly so I wouldn't have to use anything to hold the fronts closed. I can't show the inside yet, since the recipient won't get the card for a couple more days and we'd like it to be a surprise.
This is another Magie Marquee card based on Jan Tinklenberg's instructions on her website. Can't show the inside of this card either, but it should arrive at it's destination in a couple of days.... all supplies but the patterned paper is SU! This card is getting easier and easier to do and so much fun. We've got a couple of additional ideas floating around that would be fun to "test" in the very near future -- so may have to try them out over the next couple of weeks during our evening and Saturday sessions. Oh, yea, Jan has lots of interactive card ideas and templates on her website -- so be prepared to spend plenty of time on her blog - watch her videos and have lots of fun enjoying time on her site. Her cards are GOJUS!
I'm not sure where I saw the "original" but I fell in love with the background and the grasses. Inks and stamps are SU! I also saw another version of this card with some punched 3-D butterflies, so I played with ideas, but didn't like the results particularly until I found this stamp in my collection and thought why not try it and see what the results might be. Well, I liked it and turned out 6 of them in no time at all and I'm still finding some of my extra butterflies on the desk! The butterflies came from the Take Three set. I stamped them in Staz-On and then used colored pencils to color them in. If you recognize this as your design, please let me know so I can give you the appropriate credit! Thanks!
This was a really quick card -- easy peasy and just a bit of color. All supplies, SU!
I've been playing with the background stamps and having lots of fun with them. I switched up a couple of things and added in some additional colors -- some things I like, others I don't, But overall, it's been a real fun experience and exploration. There will be more pics to come in the next few days as I get them edited. They're on the computer - some of them are probably hanging out on the facebook albums, I'm sure! LOL I've been pretty good about uploading them there the past few weeks. I've also done another version of the Lemon card -- different tones - and I like the softer tones - soothing -- All supplies with the exception of the heart clip are SU!
Have a Great week!
