the day after my last post was truly an eventful one! Ted had been under the weather. We thought it was a simple case of pneumonia. I know you're thinking, pneumonia in June is a little odd if you're looking at the date of the previous post -- but for us, it's not all that uncommon. Well, thankfully, he was feeling miserable and had a high fever. He went up to Urgent Care for treatment and was accompanied by our daughter and promptly collapsed. They wouldn't treat him and called for an ambulance immediately.
During the ride to the hospital, it was discovered he was having a heart attack... needless to say, his stay at the ER was extended into a 3-day stay at the hospital. No permanent heart damage, though he did have a 70% blockage in one artery. That's been fixed and he's good to go. The lovely blessing of all of this is that he was so fit due to his running and jogging previous to the attack that he's already been released and cleared to return to normal activities after a month!
We learned many amazing things during that week and we will always our treasure dear friends, their calls and their help and the blessings they shared with us. Thank you ever so much!
And Now.... We've even taken our first family trip to attend a wedding, visited with a couple of the kids and grands and visited with his folks and even seen all of his brothers in a whirlwind 2 1/2 day visit. Wish there'd been one more day to take in some more time with family and friends though.
We were blessed to catch up with a dear friend during that whirlwind visit though. She just happened to be in Utah the same time we were and would be heading back to Idaho on our down day... and we were able to find a time to get together. What a blessing! Loved those few minutes together. Our son Tom and his wife joined us too. Tom was in her second grade classroom and I was a volunteer in her classroom for several years as well as served on the PTO board for a couple of years. Pictures to follow once I get them off my phone again! LOL
In the meantime, here are a few pictures of our latest crafting exploits - if you haven't been keeping up on Facebook!
I created this card for my niece as a Thank You card for her baby shower. Her colors were pink and gray.
the Thank You was cut on the Eclips and stacked. The picture and frame were cut with Spellbinder Nestabilities Large and Small circle dies. I also used a small heart punch and some Crystal Effects, and Organdy Ribbon from Stampin' Up as accents.
Paper, Stampin' Up!
This is a cut file from Sweet Slice of Summer a kit from MyScrapChick.com. It's a really simple and cute box. There is also a fun card and different fruits included in the kit.
Paper, unknown
This is a neat card from SVGCuts.com latest Christmas in July kit. I thought it would be fun to try it in pinks! And so did a lot of other people! LOL
I used Stampin' Up! wheels for the base and staz on ink.
Sizzix Eclips, Glue Dots, Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive. paper, Stampin' Up!, Paper Crate
Fairies have always been favorite. SVGCuts came out with a whole collection recently and I LOVE them! This one cut beautifully! The Sizzix didn't miss a beat with any of the fine details! The Bug had issues! We were picking out pieces and having to use a craft knife in some of the corners... it just couldn't cut it! Check out Twilight Fairies!
I've seen this technique done several times and always loved it's simplicity. Stacked, stamped and unstacked. Framed, stacked again. embellished as desired. Beautiful. Monochromatic or in two tones. I used stamps from Stampin' Up! for this card. The background stamp I think has long been discontinued, but it still a favorite of mine. A few small half pearls down in the corner to finish it off.
One of our grandson's is having a birthday later this month... we won't be able to attend, but we thought we might be able to help him celebrate by creating his invites for the "themed" party. The hilled background is from the scrap bin and I can't remember where I got the bear and plane from, but when I remember, I'll post to give credit, because it's a darling file. I resized it to fit on the A4 card. All the pieces are inked to give a little more depth. I printed the words on the banner on the eclips before cutting it out. Love that feature too!
I saw something like this in a magazine. I created my version using basic shapes on the eclips. I think it turned out pretty well. I used some EP paper scraps from a previous project for a masculine look and inked the edges. The Kraft paper is from MM. Stamps are from Stampin' Up! Markers, buttons, and ink also from SU!
Recognize that background? Yep, same one from the birthday invites for our grandson! LOL I digitized it and it has certainly come in handy. Here's a fire truck for another birthday boy. We embellished it a little further post this pic and added a 5 for his 5th birthday! He loved the fire hose too! I created the vellum windows since there wasn't a window in the original file. It was lots of fun working with and there were several more trucks and cars in the file.
Lastly, yah, I'm sure you're ready for this post to end.............LOL
both of these Indian Corn boxes are from a brand new kit from SVG CUTS! LOVE IT -- no, I ADORE IT! LOL
this box is easy to cut and even faster to put together. I think the hardest part is deciding which papers to use and how you're going to embellish it if you don't use the files that Mary includes with original kit- like I've used here. The rose is beautiful. A little tricky at first to figure out, but if you watch the video, on youtube, which I highly recommend, you'll have no trouble at all.
I used Stampin' Up papers and Lori Whitlock papers on this box.
and on this box I used EP papers... printed on my Epson 7510
I used some glitter glue and the brads on the flowers on both boxes are from Oriental Trading.
Glue Dots, Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive.
Guess that's it for now... Happy Crafting and creating! Enjoy a wonderful week!
