I'd seen a few shakers done for Christmas a while back and thought it might be fun to try my hand doing them for Valentine's day. I have a few things still in my stash that I really should "use up" before buying anything more, you know.
SVGCuts came to the rescue again... Double Layer Tags and 24 Valentines were the kits of choice. I then used basic shapes for the heart shape and added a shadow layer at 3.0 and cut 6 of them out of a lightweight chipboard on the Sizzix eclips. I even cut the transparency out with the eclips and it worked wonderfully using the stencil setting.

There's been a little bit creative play going on in the craft room over the last couple of weeks.
SVGCuts just put out a new kit that has some great ideas in it -- but I especially loved the little tulip garden. So easy and quick to make and these would be cute to share with the ladies that we visit each month especially adding a cute little tag with a sweet note on it.
These are as cute as the Hershey Kiss roses that have been so popular in years past. Don't you think? They take about 5 minutes to put together if that... even with inking and tying the ribbon. There are 9 cuts to a 12x12 sheet in the file. And if you use designer paper, no inking, stamping or embossing is necessary.
These are two more files from SVGCuts. I did adapt the free Soldier box file to make it a cupid box using the wings from the Candy Cherub Bears... and used the Valentine Stamps sets from PunkinPatchStamps.com too to add the sentiments to both the "cupid" and the mailbox. The stamps are now retired, but you'll soon find them at Unitystamps.com.
And one last thing for this post:
I love altering journals - and I decided to try something a little different from some of the others I'd done in days past. I chose to use the pen kit and a sharpie marker and draw the title for the journal and then cut the shadow. That way I could use any font I desired including one that had very thin lines which don't always transfer easily in the vinyl from surface to surface sometimes.
Hope you have a great week of nurturing your creative soul -- whatever you choose to do. I'm packing my needles, some yarn and a tatting shuttle and some thread. Papercrafting will be set aside for a week or two. Going to nurture the needle arts a bit.
