time to play!

Keeping busy and having fun is the name of the game!  Loving being able to craft again and having access to all the "toys" at an arm's length. 

Dr. Seuss is a favorite 'friend' of ours.  We still have a stack of books in the "library" that are family favorites.  The first part of March brings around Read Across America and was always a wonderful time at school with authors as guests and a fun time reading with kids.

Easter is just around the corner -- SVG Cuts came out with this fabulous little box -- just the right size for a Cadbury Creme egg.  Delightful!  I think a few more are in order and with some designer paper, some frills on top and maybe another touch or two.  It's a one piece box too!  I see some digital paper being printed shortly to fill this out!

One of the Facebook groups I belong to put out a challenge to use the pen tool, eCal software and create something featuring the quote:  Live Long, Laugh often, Love much.  This was pretty quick to do and easy to put together in just about an hour from start to finish.  I've used the pen tool quite a bit for some other projects and so it wasn't hard to set up the mat for this item.  The Frame is from the Sew Crafty SVG Cuts kit.  I just flipped the hanging holes to the short end so the frame would hang vertically.

hmmm, I bet you're wondering what that's all about?  I'm celebrating my 401st post!  Can't believe it... but it's true.  What a journey over the last few years!  Transformations for sure just as we all transform over the years if we grow and learn.

Crafting took a back seat again for a week, no make that two.... But I'm making up for it this weekend!  I decided to fire up the Eclips and play!  The table is a disaster and that means it's been a successful time.  We've switched out the Valentine schtuff and are putting out the St Patty's decor and more Spring items.  I'm so ready!  Last night's snow means that we still have Spinter here in the heartland.  Mother Nature can't decide whether it's winter or spring -- so maybe if we do a lot of spring crafting, we'll convince her to Bring Spring! 

I used a couple of SVGCuts files for this first 3-D card.  I love it!  It's a shaker card and has lots of pink vellum flowers and seed beads floating in between the vinyl sheets.  The shaker is big, so when the card stands up, you can't see any of the goodies, but give it a shake and there's lots of surprises to fill the oval.  I also used Mary's stamp set, Bunnies and Blossoms (now available from Unity Stamps) and some staz-on ink to stamp on the transparency.

This card is from the brand new kit 5 Minute Cards by SVG Cuts!  Gotta love all 9 of them!  The cards really do  only take about 5 minutes to put together -- it's picking the papers that takes forever!  LOL   I used some scrap peices for this card -- I changed out the "sentiment" from CONGRATS to HUGS - so easy and I love using the eCAL software to do that.  A little inking for some interest and some stickles for some details on the vellum flowers.  It's not too fancy and not to feminine either for someone who just needs a lift on a down day. 

Glue dots and Scotch Quick dry were the adhesive of choice for this card.  So easy to put together.  I think I may just cut a few more before next week....

Look Mom!  No stamping!  This is a second card from the same kit as above.  Papers from Golden Florals, my stash and adhesives from Tombow and a glue dot to secure the brad which I nipped on end of the prongs.  This was definitely a 5 minute card!  It's on my must make again list too...

This card is a CASE from one I saw in the new Paper Crafts magazine.  The designer was Lisa Arana.  I used stock I had on hand and an old stamp from Stampin' Up! for the background.  I greated the word strip in PrintShop using the word art feature and stacked them on top of each other.  While Lisa used a font that loks like labels, I decided to use something a little different.  I then used my SLICE and the Just Chillin' card to cut the U R at 1 inch.  Added a popup dot under the word block and voila, the card is done.  It's a 5 minute finisher too!  Love these quick cards. I was able to make a stack on Wednesday -- Just in time for Valentine's Day!

Washi Tape fun!  I haven't used it for a while and this is more of that $1 stash we found at Tuesday Morning a while back.  The stamp is from My Time Made Easy, All a Flutter Sentiments; the card base is done on Crumb cake and a vanilla base (scraps); Aged Copper brads and finding, Stampin' Up!; Ribbons, stash.

Christmas is Love - Day 8

January's come and gone...

and February is here and it seems like it's going to rush right through too.  I'm having a hard time keeping up!  How about you?

I've spent the last couple of weeks going through "crafting" withdrawals.... by the time I'd packed my bags for the trip to Tucson with the basic essentials -- the extras had to be left behind... so no yarn, no thread or crochet hooks or goodies were stuffed in my carry-on either.  I did have to leave a "little room" for the goodies that would inevitably follow me home, and they did. 

My daughter in law introduced me to a new bed and gem store this trip.  Ooo-la-la!  And what a sale they were having!  Eye candy to the hilt and lots of goodies.  I picked up a few things while we there, and I hope I'll be able to get some gifts made for the upcoming holidays with them. 

I also picked up a few more goodies, but aren't these Turquoise treasures lovely?  Can't wait to get them into some pieces I have in mind. 

Last year, we went to another couple of stores and picked up a bunch of stuff -- well, the findings, chains and more have sat for most of the year and last night, I finally pulled it out and used most of it up in creating some pieces for the gals that come crafting on a regular basis as a thank you for making my world a better place. 

I decided to use MyScrapChick.com's Purse Sweet Treat Favors as the holder for these gems. They're quick and easy to cut on the Sizzix Eclips or any die cutting machine or even by hand since there's even a pdf file included for doing so in the file you purchase.
