The bronchitis bug decided to visit our house again -- taking T out of action for most of the last week and it's trying to stay around a bit longer. Another friend is in the hospital recuperating. T's nearly recuperated and we wish our friend the best. This masculine card was made for our friend.
This card idea is based on a card/template shared on SplitCoastStampers. Very versatile and easy to complete. I pulled the truck stamp from a retired Stampin Up! set out again and added a dimensional heart to the pickup bed. All coloring done with Bic Mark-its. I'm beginning to feel much more comfortable using markers to color with. Papers from a Paper Studio stack and some Kraft colored stock.
Letters were cut at .75 inch using my eclips2 and eCal2. Easy and quick. Stickers could also be used if you don't have an electronic cutting machine. Tombow tape runner and Xyron X were used for this project. The tutorial was easy to follow and all of the required dimensions were provided too. Big + in my book.
Thanks for stopping by. Hope you have some crafting time built into your schedule this week! Happy Crafting!
I have to admit that my first 2 attempts with design and color were epic fails... so I guess that the 3rd time is a charm.
Creating the base wasn't the issue at all... That was the easy part. You'll need 1 sheet 11 inches wide by 6 inches tall (You can get 2 cards out of a 12 x 12 sheet or 1 card from an 8.5 x 11in sheet).
Score along the long side at 2.75, 5.50, and 8.25. Fold and crease well using a bone folder.
Open and lay flat. Draw the scalloped edge along one long side and cut.
Get your marker (Spectrum Noir for this project) and your eBrush! Time to color!
I used the eBrush to color and edge in yellow, orange and pink. I left some areas on each section front and back much lighter. Then using a stencil (mine is from Penny Black) if desired, stencil onto the panels. My sample project uses a piece of glossy stock.
Note: If you don't have an eBrush, grab your ink pads and daubers! You can get nearly the same look!
I stamped on the last inside panel (glossy side) with a small sentiment from a Stampin' Up! set from a few years back (-- it's likely retired by now), leaving oodles of room to personalize.
Once you've completed the personalization, sign your card, fold and tie with a ribbon. This card will fit in a business size envelope!
Thanks for dropping by! Hoping you'll get a bit of time to play this coming week!
Just a quick tag using a couple of elements. The tag is cut using a steel rule tag die and the bird "mask" I used on a project I'll be sharing early next month.
The stamps are all retired. Stampin Up! and a Rhonda Farrar swirl set.
I'm so excited to share that I'm on the Craftwell eBrush team for another term. I wanted to start off this term with some sunshine! And sunflowers seem to fit the bill! They have always been a favorite of mine and it's been a pleasure to watch them turn their heads towards the sun in our gardens in years past. My friend, Diann, is fabulous photographer and it was her photo that has inspired this project.
This project, cards and box to store them in, is based around a stencil created using a file from SVGCuts.com (my box files can be found here and here) Once I got started ebrushing the flowers, I couldn't stop at just one! So I made up a set of cards and a box to store them in. Cards are standard A2 (4.25 x 5.50) size. 8 cards and envelopes will fit into the box easily.
Plan on using both the negative and the positive elements from the flower petals cut. I added a square (basic shapes) around each of the 2 layers of petals available in the eCal shapes library. Cut with your cutting machine (I use the eclips2)I also added a circle similar in size to the center of the flower petal shape and cut that as a separate element to be used during the stenciling process. You'll want to resize as needed, just be sure to resize all the pieces you'll be using to make sure everything fits.
Since the negative area of the stencil has lots of little pieces that are not connected to each other, you may want to use a little bit of repositionable glue on both of those layers as well as the circle. You'll find you'll get a crisper edge. Set aside until needed.
Choose your colors (I used Spectrum Noir's LY3 and OR1, EB5, EB8 and GB3). I also used GB3 and EB3 along the outside edges for additional contrast on my finished card fronts and to add details on the flowers.
Using the eBrush and the LY3 marker in the SN adapter - with the top layer of your stencil secured on your cardstock, make sure your marker is in the sweet spot and spray lightly. You may choose to deepen the color with a second layer... it's purely up to you. Watch the video below to see how I used the other pieces of the stencils to work on my sunflower.
Here are a few more pictures of this project.
Both layers of the stencil have been used and the center has been sprayed and some of the detail work completed. You can use a white paint pen (mine was a Sharpie) to add a few highlights.
The sunflower cardstock is cut to 5.00 x 3.75. Additional layers are cut slightly larger. To a few of the other bases, I added a dark brown before applying the standard card base. Most of my top layers began at 5.25 x 4.00 and trimmed if needed.
These will make a beautiful gift for a special friend of mine.
I've had this Stampin' Up! stamp set for what seems like forever! But it's not gotten much use over the years. Time to have a party with it.
Stamp Bic-Mark It's - 36pack for a full range of colors Sharpie - Silver Sakura White Gel pen Staz-On Ink - black
Stamp your image onto some white cardstock. (If you let it sit for several hours, the colors are less likely to bleed - if you are careful in your coloring technique.) Choose your palette and color away. Add shading as desired. I used the white gel pen to add some white to the tires and some highlights on the truck. I drew the candles in the bed of the truck and used a Micron pen to draw over the sketched candles.
Stamp sentiment. Emboss a strip of contrasting color color core paper and sand/distress. Mount on card base, add your image and it's ready to go!
Hope you'll get a little bit of crafting time in. Thanks for dropping by.
Once all the pieces were cut, the coloring began. Using some Spectrum Noir Markers and the ebrush base colors and deeper dimension were added.
Tape runner and LineCo glue made layering the pieces together easy! I used a full sheet sized wood grain embossing folder and the my Sizzix Big Shot Pro to create the dimension for the layered gnome to attach to. A SU stamp and some fussy cutting around the sentiment and some foam dots complete the front.
Don't forget that Craftwell's giveaway is open for a few more days! Giveaway ends soon! Register here.
I hope you'll have an opportunity to do a little creating this week. Thanks for dropping by. Check back soon!
Ok, I don't normally out and out promote products here -- but this is one product I can't not promote since I love my eBrush! It's one of my tools that rarely a day goes by without use.
Craftwell is giving away an eBrush! You can find all the details and entry form here. Don't miss out on this chance!
I'm so excited! I've been selected to be on the Craftwell eBrush Design Team for another term! And do we have some fun in store for the next 6 months! This week Craftwell is announcing the teams. My first project is ready and as much as I'd love to share a sneak peek... you'll just have to wait! But not too long!
Mark your calendars - and join the eBrush team in celebrating our first week of the term beginning next Monday! You'll be able to meet the entire eBrush team here next week!
With Spring finally arriving here in the heartland, the number of birthdays every month starts to grow as well.Using a quick cut file you can find here, I used just the base of the treat folder and the extra front flap and removed the rest of the elements from the file. I changed the score lines in the original file to a score/kiss cut before cutting on the eclips2 using eCal2 software. Using a 12 x 12 sheet of paper, you can cut two of these at a time.
Using a stencil, a Bic Mark-it marker and the eBrush with the AD adaptor and a foam cushion pencil grip, I began coloring the flap and the front piece of the folder.
Since the Mark-it dries almost immediately, remove the stencil and add a little more depth in the color along each edge you have stenciled on. Add a little doodle using the white gel pen to some of the stenciled areas for a little more POW.
Add the gift, fold and secure. Add any additional embellishments you desire and your folder is ready to gift! This little folder is perfect for adding a gift card, a seed packet or two, some earrings, a necklace or other jewelry.
Enjoy some creative crafting time this week! Stay tuned... more quick crafts will be posted soon.
This was a quick put together using three files from SVGCuts.com The baby shoe is from this svg collection, and the bow is from this collection. The humming bird is a free file available here.
I resized the bow so it would fit on the toe of the shoe. I also cut a slide to fit on the strap. Once all the pieces were cut using my eclips and eCal2 software, I colored the pieces using the eBrush and some Spectrum Noir markers. These are sprayed using IB1 and held the eBrush about 2 inches above the paper pieces so I got a splattered effect and the color was barely visible. Once the shoe elements were all sprayed and edged with another layer of color, I glued the pieces together.
I sprayed the bow pieces and also the brad and attach to the shoe using a couple of dots of glue.
The hummingbird pieces were sprayed next using markers in the BG family and a bright pink for the hummingbird throat. The hummingbird is about 3 inches tall from beak to tail. I glued a toothpick to the back to secure the bird in the shoe. Baby blue sprayed eggs and some contrasting bright pink dots completed the eggs. Add some moss and arrange the eggs and hummingbird and you're good to go!
Make up a few of these and use as placeholders at the Sunday table for Easter. Or enlarge the files and create a very unique centerpiece.
Be sure to check out the blog at Craftwell this coming week.... I heard they were announcing the new Design Team for both the eBoss and the eBrush. I hear there's a lot of talent on both teams this coming term.
Also, feel free to join us on our associated Facebook pages too! We'd love to have you join in the fun! I heard there will be some additional challenges and drawings held throughout April!
