The eCal2 software makes designing cuts for the eclips a breeze! A few years ago, we decorated our Christmas trees with paper snowman -- made using punches and die cuts and hand-drawn faces. I think it's time to make another set of ornaments for the tree with a snowman theme.
Here's my first test cut. I also want to create a door hanger, so this sample is in a larger version.
The ornaments will be about 3" tall when completed and should fit nicely on a card front.
You'll need:
Sizzix eclips
eCal2
paper (12x12 - white)
small piece of Transparency. fabric mesh or window screen
pop - dots (medium and large)
adhesive (tape, glue, glue dots)
gel pen (white)
ribbon or fabric scrap 1" x 10" (you will likely trim it just a bit)
Wire (thin); wire cutters, needle nose pliers
brads
scissors
eBrush, SN adapter, assorted SN markers.
Open the eCal2 software. Open the library if it doesn't open automatically. Using the basic shapes library, you'll be using the following shapes. Rectangle (vertical), rounded rectangle, circle, oval.
TIP: You'll use Back Minus Front, Union in the PATH tab in the software.
Once all your pieces have been made and sized as needed, cut using your favorite paper. I chose to use white since I planned on doing all the coloring with my eBrush and markers. If you don't want to color, just cut the pieces in the desired colors.
Dry emboss several pieces in a wood grain pattern, if desired. Since my sample pieces are a bit large, I chose to use a folder from CraftwellUSA. It's one of my go to folders to use in the cut n' boss and you can emboss a full 8 x 11 sheet at one time.
Once all your embossing and coloring is done, it's time to put it all together.
To assemble:
Adhere the transparency to the front of the back body piece using some good sticky tape. Using a medium pop dot, attach the tummy buttons to the transparency. Add the boots -- I attached them to the body using a brad and some wire. Set aside.
Add the arms to the body front, using a brad. Apply a double layer of pop dots (large) to the back of the body front. Apply the body front to the body back.
Using a pop dot, add the nose. Slip the eyes just slightly behind the either side of the nose. If desired, add a little blush using a cotton swab, cosmetic blush or chalk. Add some white gel details.
Apply a small amount of tape on the lower portion of the back of the head. Carefully, slip the head between the two body layers and secure to the body back.
Put the hat together -- use a pop dot to "lift" the brim a little for more dimension. Add some gel pen details if desired. Using a small amount of glue or tape and attach to the head.
Using the ribbon, button and fibers, create a scarf and other embellishments to finish the snowman. You can add a string to hang the ornament attaching on the back the hat, if desired or cut a door hanger back and apply the snowman to the door hanger, with the hat just below the area where the door knob would go.
Thanks for stopping by. Have a wonderful crafty-week!
