Birdhouse project - adding color

It's been a couple of weeks and a trigger thumb flare... so working on this project has been a bit of a hit and miss as far as crafting is concerned.

The new markers posed a bit of a problem in that they didn't fit into any of the adapters made for the eBrush, however I was able to hack one of the Copic adapters to work.  You can learn how to hack the adapter in this youtube video  The barrels of the markers are the same shape as the copic markers but differ just enough not to fit into the adapter.  

The  markers are from Ohuhu. They're a good price for the larger bundles and are juicy from the get go.  The only drawback to using them is you would need to buy bundles in order to replace individual markers once the color was used up in an individual marker.  They aren't refillable and the nibs cannot be adjusted like some other brands.

The color I got while spraying was perfect with a limited amount of fiddling to find the sweet spot for each of the pens I used.  
This is a sneak peek of the roof after using the eBrush and a warm gray to color.

2020 - 12 Tags of Christmas Tag 12

The tree is a sweet reminder that Joy can fill our hearts this holiday season.  eCal's triangle, vertical and horizontal rectangles and a star from the basic shapes library make up the base of this tag.  Print 2 Cut option for the "faux stitching" and Joy.  This was inspired by a clay ornament I saw on Pinterest.  A little bit of gingham ribbon for the hanger completed the tag.  

This is the final tag for the challenge this year.  It's been a delight to play and create this year's tags.

2020 - 12 Tags of Christmas Tag 11

This challenge is drawing to a close and you really don't want to miss any of the other contributions.  So hop on other to our Facebook page and take a peek at all the phenomenal designs that have been shared.  There are a LOT! 

I"ve kept this year's tags on the simple side for sure.  Maybe next year there will be a little more time to spend creating.  I've got a few ideas sketched in the "idea" book that I hope to have a chance to bring to life in the coming year.  

Here's Tag 11 -- The design is a copycat shape of a previous tag (.  The stamp is from Crafter's Companion and is colored with Ohuhu markers and set on a wobble.  I really like the little bit of action on this tag.   The sentiment is Print 2 cut.  Text on arch  inside and outside.  Font is from CreativeFabrica.  You could use print 2 cut, draw or the foil quill for the lines.  I decided to hand draw them with an ultra fine sharpie pen.

2020 - 12 Tags of Christmas Tag 10

Pinterest inspired this tag -- I liked the lines and I'm glad that the eCal software provides the tools to make it happen.  Basic tag shape from the library, sized as needed.  Make a second copy and using the knife, cut the second one on an angle.  Add a line and use the wave tool and close the bottom half of the tag.  I added a line of small circles  -- I decided that the Let it Snow would be a simple print 2 cut  and I used heart 2 from the basic shapes library for the heart.  

The snowman is colored using Ohuhu markers, a sargent metallic pen and a bit of silver mica was brushed across a few places.  He is popped up on some dimensional foam.   I added some dimensional glaze to the front, let dry and then secure in place on the front of the tag using some dimensional tape..  The back of the tag is embossed with the Swiss Dots folder.

2020 - 12 Tags of Christmas Tag 9

Today's tag is another image from the stamp stash.  The stamp is from a set from Crafter's Companion... and I've really enjoyed working with it the last couple of weeks.  

I used the Stamp 2 Cut option in eCal to cut the stamp after getting it on paper.  The cut is nearly perfect and I really like using that option.  Dies weren't available for this set and I did not find any restrictions with cutting with an electronic machine.  The tag is from basic shapes.  The stamp is colored with Ohuhu Alcohol markers. The font is from CreativeFabrica's fabulous font selection and was done with Print 2 cut for this tag.    

2020 - 12 Tags of Christmas Tag 8

This tag was inspired by a gift tag we received a couple of years ago... I was hoping to be able to use some of the Holiday "sprinkles" I'd purchased from KatScrapiness earlier this fall and a combination of 2 bags worked pretty well together.  The tag is created in eCal and cut on the eclips2 - my go to machine.  The front uses a triangle and vertical rectangle sized to fit in the small shaker front.  Use Front minus back to create the cut effect.  I used an old stamp set of swirls and flourishes on the front of the shaker.  It is stamped in Silver (heat set or let dry overnight).  The back of the shaker is a P2C piece filled with a snowflake pattern in silver from CreativeFabrica.  The banner on the front is also filled with the same pattern as the backing.  The word Joy and the hearts are made using the draw command and the Foil Quill.   A small silver heart from a nail art kit tops the tree.

2020 - 12 Tags of Christmas Tag 7

I've always enjoyed Trina Walker Clark's artwork and have used some of her SVG files for previous projects.  I'm so happy that I had this design in my stash.  You can find it at KadoodleBugDesigns - look by designer.  Christmas Gingers in a Cup.  The kit also includes some Santa Gingers.  I cut the entire piece on 1 sheet of 12x12 white cardstock.   It's all colored using Ohuhu markers.  They blended really well for this piece.  I decided to back this paper pieced ginger with a circle and set the ginger off center to the right.  I used some pop up dots for a little more dimension.

2020 - 12 Tags of Christmas Tag 6

Years ago I fell in love with The Snowman and the SnowDog.  Crafter's Companion (CC) had some fun decoupage elements in a pdf file.  I decided it was time to get those out and see if I could do something with them.  There are times when things don't go quite as you planned, but regardless this tag still gets a "pass."  I used a border embossing folder from another CC set and embossed 2 times.  I print the snowman and the second layer head and put the head on a wobble. The markers are from Ohuhu -- they're pretty good and have basically replaced most of my Spectrum Noir markers.

2020 - 12 Tags of Christmas Tag 5

2 for one for today's tag.  Print 2 cut using graphics from a digital collection by Echo Park and a single line font.  I decided to just print everything for these two tags and add a little bit of sparkle with a gel pen by adding berries to the tree and to the holly berries.  Tags are back with some red metallic stock I've had in my stash for a while.  One of the great things about this challenge is that I can dig deep into the archives and shelves and find what I need to be creative and not have to dig into the crafting budget for that.

2020 - 12 Tags of Christmas Tag 4

I've been having fun making these tags... though several of the "planned" ones haven't turned out as I'd expected, so they haven't made the cut... but the next few did.
This tag was done using basic shapes and a few other commands found in the software.  I love the look and the layers.

The photo doesn't do it justice -- but the studio lighting hasn't been cooperating the last few days... so my apologies.  

I love adding a stitching line using the contour cut feature, inset shadow and then changing the line to a dashed line.  The white stock for the front cover was watercolored using an antique colorway.  All of the trees are washed in a little bit of light gray and some Wink of stella.  I used some stacked foam tape strips along the edge after the insert was created and placed on the back piece.  I wrapped a length of gold cording around the edge to cover the foam.
