A few more silkscreen stencils have made their way to the crafting table. They stencils are very easy to make using the IkonArt Stencil Kit and some fun and creative craft quotes from CreativeFabrica.com.
The mini bag is from Hobby Lobby and has been in my stash for a while... We purchased a pack of four for about $3. The bag measures 6 x 5 not including the handles. The Jaquard fabric paint for stencils was from Amazon. Before stenciling, add a light coat of Mod Podge on the bag front to keep the paint from bleeding under the stencil. The stencil was made using the blue stencil material. Some light tack tape was used to keep the stencil in place as there wasn't quite enough tack to keep it firmly in the area that would be stenciled.
Choose the quote you wish to use. Open your editing software. SCAL 5 Pro was used. Choose the SVG file. If your quote uses multiple colors, change everything to black. This is essential for exposing and getting the best results on your stencil film. Follow the directions for Printing, Exposing,Rinsing and Post exposure as shared by IkonArt Stencil here. Be sure to do that last step of Post Exposure for a longer lasting stencil.
Use a foam brush to apply the paint. Check to make sure you have adequate coverage by lifting one edge of the stencil and replacing to apply more paint if needed. When you have completed the process, lift the stencil and clean the stencil in warm water while the paint dries on the bag. Replace the clear cover and let the stencil dry.
I added a few additional details to the paintbrush at the bottom of the stenciled image using an Ohuhu Alcohol gray marker and a Micron .01 detail pen. Heat set the image using an iron and press cloth.
Can't wait to do a few more.... these will make perfect gifts when filled with gift cards, stickers and more.
