This file was used for an April challenge in on the paper crafting groups on Facebook. Thought I'd better get it done early in the month since the rest of the month has filled up fast with other crafting makes and a little bit of re-organization and some yard work thrown in as well.
The paper for the basic structure is from AC cardstock and the digital Teal damask paper is from a NitWit Collection called Porch Swing. The diamond pot file is not available outside the challenge group... all pieces were cut using the Sizzix eclips 2 and eCal3
Hoping you have scheduled some time in your creative space this week and for the coming week. And thanks again for stopping by.
Day 4 reveal is underway! Thanks in advance for stopping by to check out the new tag and to catch up on the rest of the tags, drop by the FB page for more.
This tag started out on stark white AC smooth cardstock. Once again, dipping into a 6 in pad of paper for some additional interest, 2 strips were cut from 2 papers and secured to the tag. Dry-brushing some white acrylic over the tag, softened the papers a bit and pulled the two patterns together. Edges of the tag were blended using some Old Paper distress ink.
The focal piece for this tag is from Dreaming Tree's Lavender Greetings. Cut from white cardstock, the 3 pieces of the image are colored using Ohuhu markers and Craftwell's eBrush. The colors are rich and vivid.
Once the coloring was finished, a small embossing tool was used to add a little more texture. If desired for a little shimmer, add a touch of Pearl Ex to the floral portion of the cuts and a few drops of Crystal Nuvo.
A wrapped ribbon on the stems finishes off the focal piece. Add a few mini gems (nail art kit), sequins and Nuvo drops as desired to finish it off. Let dry and add your ribbon hanger.
This week is sure going quickly. The #eCalmakers are having lots of fun over on the FB page... have you stopped by yet? If not, hope you'll find some time to join in.
This tag uses papers from an old 6 x 6 pad I've had forever and an old tool in my stash, the Making Memories Tag maker.
The rabbit is my own design and colored using some watercolor pencils and a waterbrush. Set aside.
A little bit of white acrylic paint dry-brushed over the top of the cut pieces that were added to the tag base softened the colors a bit. Some Old Paper distress ink was also blended on the papers...
Make the tag using a small rectangle from a tag maker kit. If desired, fussy cut an image using the template provided with the tags for the tag maker. I had planned on using the other side of the paper I originally cut, but after seeing the perfect placement of the image on the other side, mind changed! Follow the manufacturer's directions for completing the tag. Secure the metal tag to the paper tag using some E600 glue.
Using some double stick tape, attach the bunny to the top of the tag. Add fibers to hang the tag as desired.
Thanks again for stopping by. Be sure to stop by the FB page to see more... there are some amazing creations.
If you haven't calendared some creative time into your schedule yet, this week, hope you can!
Did you see all the fun tags created for day 1? If not, hop on over to the FB page for a fun look at what our #eCalmakers are doing. Day 2 tags are being revealed today.
For my tag, I decided to use a couple of simple shapes and the lattice option in the eCal software. Basic shapes for the tag shape.
Added a bit of watercolor to the tag shape for some added interest. Create the lattice oval. If you have the Hydrangea tray from Dreaming Tree, the hydrangea blossom file is perfect for the blooms in the vase reduced to about 1/4in in diameter. The eclips cuts them cleanly and easily. The vase is a polygon, reshaped and elongated a bit. The Spring banner was from basic shapes as well -- Again all pieces for this tag were cut from white presentation paper. Pieces were watercolored using Art Philosophy's Vintage Pastels set. The word Spring was written with a white gel pen. The blossoms have an added "pearl" of Nuvo Drops. A gold pen was run around the edges of the tag for a little more interest.
Thanks for dropping by. Again, hoping you have some creative time mapped out in your day's journey! Enjoy.
today is day 1 of the reveal on the eclips/eCal FB page. This is the 2nd year of the challenge... and so much fun.
For today's reveal, simplicity was the goal. Using a file from Creative Fabrica, Watercolor Hand Painter Flowers-Leaves, the bluebells image was a good choice.
Importing the png image into eCal, size and place on the tag as desired. Be sure to set the image to print to cut print in the software. Added dimension was accomplished by fussy cutting a second copy of the image with pop up dots. Presentation paper was used for the tag in this project.
Be sure to stop by the FB page to see additional tags made by other #eCalmakers. You'll love what you see.
A current challenge on the eclips & eCal Facebook page was the basis for creating this fun interactive card. The challenge requires use of a shaker element. The shaker must be created using eCal and cutting with the eclips cutting machine.
This idea has been in a sketchbook for over a year --the challenge was perfect timing and the opportunity to bring this project to the top of the list opened a bevy of other ideas! The shaker for this card had to be transparent all the way to the base of the card -- as that would be where the sentiment would be adhered under the shutter elements.
You'll need: Bazzil cardstock: 2 8.5 x 11 sheets for the card base (5.5 x 8.5) , 2 panels (1.875 x 5), clasp (optional), shutter mechanism pieces (1 6 x 6 piece) 1 6 x 6 inch for camera 1 3 x 4 inch piece for foil quilled sentiment 1 6 x 6 inch piece for Lens and bar 1 6 x 6 inch transparency for lens
Foil quill standard tip Foil sprinkles for the shaker Foam for back of camera to adhere to card base. Foam for the shaker.
Assemble card base, create a gatefold card. The gatefold will be used in landscape orientation with the flaps being on the top and bottom. You can add the panels to the front of the card now. In this version, the panels were dry embossed. Open the card base. Form the shutter mechanism and adhere to the card base. While the card base is open, adhere the foil quilled sentiment. It should be centered in the opening of the shutter when fully opened.
This card also features an LED light for a flash - using a simple circuit using copper tape, battery and light. (Check out Chibitronics for the basics.) A 1/8 inch punch was used to create the spot for the LED to shine through. Apply foam tape around the 2 outside short edges of the camera - and around the battery to keep it in place. Adhere to the card base, making sure the sentiment is centered in the lens opening.
Create the shaker, Glue both of the lense cardstock shapes together -- this provides a firm top for the shaker. To the back of these, adhere on of the transparency circles.
Adhere the 2nd transparency shape to the front of the camera, centered over the opening in the camera. Add a foam tape circle to the transparency. This version used thin strips of 1/8 thick tape - stacked with a second layer of tape. Add some sprinkles and then place the top of the shaker over this piece.
Add the clasp and closing (if desired). Many of the cards you can find using the gatefold method use a belly band. The clasp used her consists of a rounded rectangle and a decorative piece. Adhere about 1/3 of the clasp piece to the top fold of the card base. Glue a small hook and loop to the clasp and bottom flap to keep the card closed.
Plans are to make several versions of this card. The shutter element is perfect. If desired the shaker element could be left off and just the lens piece with one transparency piece used. Change the sentiment to a stamped image or even a selfie that would fit in the opening area of the shutter.
Hoping you have some time built into your schedules to do a little creating this week. Nurture your spirit along the way too!
Coming soon: 5 Spring Tags! Annual challenge reveal.
Who knew the last 4 years would fly by so quickly? He's growing up so fast and it's hard to believe that he will turn 4 next week.
He's a tall boy and this card I think will bring a smile to his face.
The animal stamps are an older set from Pink and Main, Happy Birthday stamp from Stamper's Anonymous (Tim Holtz collection) Crazy Talk.
A masking technique was used to stack the animals.. Masking is easy to do and requires stamping off on a piece of tissue paper (masking material) or even copy paper and trimming to fit the stamped image.
TIP: If there are any components on the stamp you do not want to appear, use a little bit of blue painters tape to cover those parts, ink up your stamp and then remove the tape. If you're using a fast drying ink, huff a little on the stamp to refresh the ink on the stamp.
Now, layer the mask you stamped previously and ink and stamp the next image. In this card, the elephant was stamped first. The lion second, the turtle and monkey are a combined image on one stamp and they were stamped over the mask of the lion. Pretty simple, but is a fun process. Color with water soluble pencils. In this case, I used Caran D'Arche supracolor soft pencils for this card. They do blend well, dry or wet.
A sheet of color block paper (in blues) was used for the backing on the AC smooth white cardstock base.
Birthday "season" has arrived! Looking forward to making each one a little special this year.
Thanks for stopping by. Hoping you're able to fit some creative time into your crowded days. Keep nurturing your spirit! It does much good for your mental health too.
Lots of birthdays are on the calendar for the next few months... time to buckle down and make a few more cards!
Our littlest princess turns 1 very soon. Hard to believe she was born just as the world went a little crazy last year! We've missed out on so much of her 1st year -- here's hopes for a reunion very soon.
Papers for this card are from a collection I found at Creative Fabrica. The website is one of the first places I stop when looking for themed digital images and papers.
I was even happy to find the crown was also included in the collection. It's really a pretty simple card and the eCal3 software made it a breeze to fill the name and shadow of the 1 with the digital papers -- and size it to the shape. The card is based on a cake topper I saw on Pinterest. I love that it was easy to translate into a card front and so quickly.
The shadow layer of the 1, Happy Birthday, and the crown are printed on the AC smooth white card front. I used my print template for a card and oh how easy it is to print a card at a moment's notice in the software.
A second crown with a blackout shadow and the name, Emily, were cut separately. The number 1 was cut out of plain white cardstock. The gel pen came in handy for some dots at just the right size for our cute little granddaughter. Using a little double stick tape, the number was adhered to the card front, centered over the "shadow." Pop up dots add a little dimension to the name and I also used a gold metallic gel pen to highlight the crown in several places before using some pop up dots to secure it to the card front over the printed crown.
Birthday wishes are going out in the mail today!
Hoping you're enjoying some creative time -- and if not, will set aside some time to do so in the very near future! Enjoy!
The tree is a sweet reminder that Joy can fill our hearts this holiday season. eCal's triangle, vertical and horizontal rectangles and a star from the basic shapes library make up the base of this tag. Print 2 Cut option for the "faux stitching" and Joy. This was inspired by a clay ornament I saw on Pinterest. A little bit of gingham ribbon for the hanger completed the tag.
This is the final tag for the challenge this year. It's been a delight to play and create this year's tags.
I appreciate your stops throughout the last 12 days -- I hope you'll continue to drop by occasionally. I'm looking forward to new endeavors, play and creativity in 2021 and hope you are too.
Happy Holidays and best wishes for a wonderful New Year!
