2024 - 3 Fall Tags Reveal #3

Tag 3 is a grouping of  tags.  

I used several ideas to create this project.  The puzzle pieces were generated in SCAL using the Puzzle Generator under the effects tab.  I had a few digital vintage dictionary pages in my stash that I chose from to use as a background image for the puzzle pieces.  Once that was printed and cut, the interior pieces were used for these tags. 


They were inked for a little more texture.  The flowers were files found in the SCAL library (Sandra Createinspain's collection from the old eShape store).  I cut the larger flowers in Kraft and the smaller flowers using watercolor paper.  The glossy accents "burped" on the flower centers -- I decided to let them just be to add a little more quirkiness to each of the tags.  

If desired, once you're inked the puzzle pieces, add a small eyelet to the tag to allow for your hanging string.  For a little more interest and texture you could also emboss the puzzle pieces and don't forget to add a little twine for more interest as well.

And today is the first day of the 3 day reveal.  I decided that for today's tag I would use a basic shaped tag.  I just used two different sized rectangles found in the basic shapes library, union them and add a small circle for the hanging string.  

I found a lovely floral image on Pixabay and thought it would make a great focal image.  I cut and applied a vinyl sentiment*  in a font I had on my computer to the top of the image to finish it off.  All cardstock and vinyl were cut using SCAL 6 Pro (6.056) and the Skycut C24

*Earlier in the process of trying to create the sentiment, I had some issues with my machine.  After a bit of struggle, I was able to finally get a clean cut.  I did try Line Fill under the Effects tab, but the command didn't work correctly.  Not sure if it's a bug yet, but checking if my next attempt doesn't work as it used to on a font I've filled previously.

More fun in June

The last of the cards for this month are done -- 

Sandy from Simply Crafty SVGs helped immensely with this card design. I love the hexagon pop up cards -- however, this one gave me a run for my money.  My machine didn't like the paper I chose much ... so the original colors I'd hoped to use had to be switched out.  It did approve of the final choices and I do like the way it turned out.

The digi paper is from Polkadoodles (Rebel Collection) and the flowers are from Lori Whitlock (one of her envelope box cards).  I hand painted the flowers and leaves with Vintage Pastels from Art Philosophy.  


Normally, this card would lay flat for mailing, however, I altered the design a bit and now it's a stand up card that won't lay flat.  LOL  I hope the recipient likes it as much as I do.  She's all into flowers this year and volunteers at a community garden.  

I played with this llama design in Procreate.  I like how it turned out and it was easy enough to export as a png and trace in SCAL and use as an svg.  I used Ohuhu markers to color.  I stacked 4 cuts to make it sturdy like a chipboard die cut.  The small adornments on the blanket cut quite well on the skycut using SCAL 6 Pro (6.056), all things considered and this One Year Celebration card is now ready for personalization.  This is for an early July birthday.... 


Looking forward to sharing July's cards with you soon.. I have some unexpected medical testing added to the calendar this month and possible surgery in the near future -- so I did get my July Ministering Card stack completed.  I'll share those very soon.  In the meantime, I've got a few tags to get made before the 24th!

Cut n Create Challenge piece

Insomnia has played a huge part in this project.... I got all the matting done after finding all the required files in my stash the other night after searching through lots of files to find just the right cutting files to create this framed wreath.  


The leafy wreath and square shadow box frame file are both from Creative Fabrica.  I used an old Stampin Up punch for a few extra "branches."

The rolled roses are from a file from Simply Crafty SVGS (Victorian Hat) and the small flowers are from a Dreaming Tree file (Hydrangea Tray).  The doily is a file from SVG Cuts Doily Collection.  

All files were matted in SCAL6 Pro.  I used print 2 cut print for the sentiment on the doily and then it was cut using the SkyCut.  I cut 3 of the leafy wreaths and inked them.  I wanted a little more depth and used foam tape between two of the layers.  The roses are inked on both sides and the top of the petals are slightly flared for a little more dimension.  They are glued directly to the wreath.  The smaller flowers have a small pearl in the center and are glued to the wreath as well.  Additional pearls are glued using E6000 and allowed to dry for a couple of hours to make sure everything is secure.   I added a loopy bow using 1/4" wide lavender ribbon and secured with a drop of hot glue.  

The 6" box frame is a single piece file.  Easy to put together.  The center area of the frame is about 5 inches.... it's a pretty snug fit.

This is one that I chose not to use digital stamps for, but did bring out a couple of retired stamps from Fun Stampers Journey that I still have in my stash.  The coloring is done using pan pastels and the border is drawn using a fine liner pen (winsor newton) No need to stay within the lines either... I like the slightly out of the line look for this card.  

Originally inspired by a find on Pinterest.  I chose to use the Pan Pastels because I used some regular 110 lb cardstock for this stack of 20 cards.  Things need to be quick and replicable in a short amount of time.  All but 4 of the cards have been delivered.  Hoping they were well received.  

Tag 3

We're now in the middle of the week and it's day three of the reveal.  It's going quickly!  This tag was inspired by one seen on Pinterest.

I thought that creating the dotted layer would be more difficult than it was -- overthinking again.  LOL  However, that's not the case.  I think the results were just as I anticipated.  The tag is my design made using shapes from the library.  Digital paper fills the shapes and was from the FQB Hey Cupcake NitWit Collection. The flower shapes were from the SCAL Library.  The banners were created using basic shapes and the sentiment uses Arkina Sans from Creative Fabrica and was set to print 2 print only and filled with a color very similar to the Kraft color used for the back tag.  The back tag is loose so it can be personalized if desired.  White embroidery thread was used for the hanger.

Is it Spring yet?

Mother Nature isn't quite willing to let Spring show her grandeur.  But I'm hoping we'll see more signs very soon!

Maybe one way we can make that happen is to share a few Spring Tags this week.  It's our Spring Tag Reveal week over on Facebook...  I'll post the link to the page at the bottom of this post.  

I decided to start off the week with this simple tag.  It's a shaped tag and slightly oversized.  

The chick is from the Library in SCAL, and I added a rounded triangle using the Union command for the tail.  The base is cut from a grey colored cardstock and is crimped and painted for a weathered look.  The body is also crimped but with the lines running horizontally.  I added some dimensional glaze to the eye.  The flower is from the Library in SCAL as well.  It is drybrushed with some white paint.  A glittered brad holds the layers together.  I used some baker's twine around the neck and for the hanger.  Sweet and simply!

2023 5 Tags of Spring - Day 3

Fun and lots of paper shapes create this fun tag for day 3.  The chocolate bunny is from Simply Crafty SVGs.  It's resized to fit on this mini tag that measures about 1.5 inches wide by 2.5 inches in height.  The flowers and leaves can be found in the SCAL library (SandraCreateinSpain folder)

It's also a good tag to use scraps with.  Add some ink, markers and a bit of glue, it's also a quick assemble.  The small hello is a print 2 cut.  Embossing the tag base adds a little more dimension and it was swiped with an ink pad in an antiquing color.

2023 5 Tags of Spring - Day 2

using some Pastel Digital paper from Nit Wit collections,  as well as the floral image used in the framed areas of this tag, this tag was a fun make.  I used the faux glassine technique used in the Valentine Tag project shared in this project. 

The Tag is made of a simple rectangle with equal sized and spaced circle cuts. The hanger element is created using a round rectangle and half circle and the Union command in SCAL 6 was used before adding a smaller circle for the twine to go through.  A little bit of antiqued cheesecloth and a word strip were used to finish off the tag.  

I really like the spring colors and hoping they brighten your day as well.  Spend a little time in your creative space this week!  Enjoy!

2023 5 Tags of Spring - Reveal

It's that time of year again!  I'm excited that the group wanted to do it again.  The rules are the same.... and it's just as fun to make new tags again this year.

This pinterest inspired tag was made using basic shapes from the SCAL Library.  It was fun to play with shapes and create the "eyelet" lace.  The pattern fill command is a great way to use digital paper -- all pieces for this tag were print 2 cut.  For deeper color, I used some markers for a more intense color on the flowers, stems and leaves. Markers were also used on the edges of each of the pieces.
