Take a note

It's been so fun using SaborPapel this month.  The Amor Collection was my choice for this project.

For each, you'll need:
4" square coaster (pkg of 6 coasters from $ store)
cardstock (2 complimentary colors, white)
Amour collection -- try to choose just one design! 
die cuts from Ole collection
adhesive (double sided tape)
pop-up dots
Xyron permanent adhesive
sentiment stamp
ink pad
corner rounder punch
Clips
eBrush and marker adapter
Markers (Sharpies)
Stencil (retired - but there lots of stencils to choose from)

For each note pad, cut 4" square from your Amour cardstock.  (a 12 x 12 sheet will make 9 squares).  Round each corner of the square with the corner rounder. 



Run the cardstock piece through the Xyron. 

Apply to the coaster and if desired seal with a waterproof sealer. 

Set the coasters aside and get your eBrush and markers.  Cut the colored cardstock in the following dimensions:  White: 2 1/2" square; Middle square is 2 3/4" square; the bottom layer is 3" square. 

I colored the middle layer -- using the eBrush and a stencil. 

Stack the layers, add the sentiment and using the pop dots add a cut from the embellishment package

Those black clips aren't so pretty -- so to dress them up a bit, cut a few strips of scrap paper.  Run through the Xyron and apply to the clips.  You can add a little more bling with some embellishments or a glitter pen.

Place the note pad on the coaster, add your "card" and add the clip.  These make fun, easy and inexpensive gifts!

Paper Quilting with Sabor & Craftwell

This month's creative fun with SaborPapel and Craftwell is still underway!  Still using the Olé collection from Sabor, and a desire to do a little "quilting," here's the project I decided to do.

When I first paraded the blocks by my artist Mom, she was a little concerned about it being too busy.  But after adding the eBrushed binding, she gave it 2 thumbs up! 

I used the well known pattern New York quilt block for the design.  The pattern was easy to translate to a cut file for my electronic cutter and made easy work of cutting the sheets of paper into the components of the blocks.

Once all the pieces are cut, begin laying out your blocks.  No need for glue at this point, you can switch out pieces and colors for a pleasing palette.

My base squares are slightly larger to allow for some trimming once all the pieces are in place. 

Now, put the squares into a pleasing pattern.  This is not my final pattern as I did make a couple more adjustments.  Once that is done, get your sewing machine out, a complimentary color thread for both the spool and the bobbin.  I used a zig-zag stitch  - not a satin stitch, since that would perforate the paper. 

Stitch each square, trim threads and edges to size.  My squares were 6 1/4 inches each.  Stitch in rows,  I made 9 squares for a 3 x 3 quilt. 

I chose not to ebrush any of my squares nor any of the elements in the squares.  But the "binding" was another story!  Grab a stencil, the eBrush and some markers in complimentary colors.  The Bic-Mark its worked well with the colors in the "quilt.". 

Using a piece of foam core or posterboard, cut your posterboard 2 inches larger all around, which will leave a 1 inch border when you add your quilt. 

I started with the lightest color first and added color as I reused the stencil around the edge.  Lightly spray the darkest color as desired around the edge of the board.  It will fill in most of the white of the board.  Be careful not to muddy the colors too much.  Don't worry if you over spray a bit into the middle of the board.  It won't show. 

Carefully adhere the "quilt" to the binding and display as desired!  There are some papers in the Amor collection I've got my eye on..... quilting isn't just for fabric!

Cinco de Mayo Fun

We're excited to celebrate the Cinco de Mayo with SaborPapel!  Have you seen their fabulous papers?  They ROCK! 
I've had to much fun playing with them. 

Here's a peek at the collection I used for this project! 


Now that you've been introduced to this cool-lection of fabulous papers, let me share my project for today.




You'll need:
eBrush (marker adapter - sharpie)
Foam Core or canvas
contact paper for stencil, transfer tape
electronic cutting machine, software
image for tracing - cutting file in SVG format
Flower pot (Dreaming Tree - Love you Mom collection)
Frame  (optional)
additional dies and cutting files, as desired  (flowers, leaves and flourish/vine)
Sabor Olé collection
glue gun
brads
adhesive, pop dots
styrofoam

Let's get started:
Create your stencil using the word art image or file of your choice in your cutting machine's software.  Size to fit your base and your frame.  Cut in clear contact paper  - weed the lettering leaving the negative for the stencil.  Add the transfer tape and transfer the stencil to the foam core surface.  Make sure it's secure on the surface. 



Using the eBrush and the marker, spray the stencil.  Let it dry a little longer and then carefully remove the stencil.  Lift any remaining pieces from the now painted surface.  Be careful, the sharpie will smear or scratch.  It's best to let it sit a day or two before doing much more with this piece.

Now it's time to embellish.  Cut flowers, leaves, vines and any other embellishments as desired.   Add a little more dimension using the eBrush for some more color and pinch and shape to the leaves.  The florals came from 2 packs of  Ole cutouts.  Add some bling to each of the flowers for a little more fun.  Frame if desired.   

 To highlight the papers even more, I cut 1 flower pot from the Love You Mom collection, using my electronic cutting machine,  Fill a mat with circles in 3 different sizes and cut a few leafy branches. Using the eBrush, lightly edge each of the circles.  Run the circles through a crimper to "soften" the fibers, crumple, stack, insert a brad into the center.  You can add a "stem" if you'd like, but I just hot glued them to paper covered styro form in the pot.  Add some greenery and a flower from the cuts that come with your paper collection to decorate the flower pot.
